TxGCP Fall 2008 Forums Highlights
The Texas Girls Collaborative Project (TxGCP) went on the road during the fall to connect with organizations and individuals around the state interested in the advancement of girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Forums were held in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso and Houston.
TxGCP Fall Forum participants had the opportunity to network and find possible collaborative partners, gain ideas for programs, learn about other programs and resources, learn about easy to use and easy to implement assessment instruments, and learn more about the TxGCP. Regional Fall Forums build upon the five themes which surfaced at the April 2008 TxGCP Kick-off Conference regarding the needs across the state and where the TxGCP can provide leadership in pre-college STEM initiatives targeting girls:
- Build Community and Collaborations across Texas
- Provide a Forum to share Resources/Ideas/Questions.
- Catalogue and Share Information on STEM Programs and Informal Learning Curriculum across Texas
- Build Community, Public and Political Awareness across Texas
- Create Standards or Common Assessment of Programs
